Plastic & PVC Pipe Testing Equipment - Notched Constant Ligament Stress Tester

Notched Constant Ligament Stress Tester

Notched Constant Ligament Stress Tester ToronNCLS evaluates the vulnerability of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resins or corrugated pipes to slow crack growth under constant ligament stress in an accelerated environment.

The ToronNCLS is specifically designed for HDPE with a melt index between 0.15 and 0.4 and a density range of 0.947 to 0.955 g/cm³. While it may potentially be used with other materials, data for such applications are currently unavailable.

This version uses North American English, is more concise, and adheres to your requested guidelines.

Standards

  1. ASTM 5397–99: Test Method for Evaluation of Stress Crack Resistance of Polyolefin Geomembranes Using Notched Constant Tensile Load Test
  2. ASTM F2136-18: Notched, Constant Ligament-Stress Test to Determine Slow-Crack-Growth Resistance of HDPE Resins or HDPE Corrugated Pipe

Test Methods

  1. Brittle Transition Time Determination
This method assesses whether a specimen breaks within a predefined time. A broken specimen is deemed unfit, while an intact one is considered acceptable. The test automatically stops and provides a prompt upon reaching the set time.

  2. Brittle Transition Time Measurement
This method measures the duration under a constant load until the specimen breaks. The loading time is automatically recorded during the test.

Notched Constant Ligament Stress Tester ToronNCLS Features

  1. Automatically maintains power-loss data, saving test time and parameters during power failures. It resumes operation by disconnecting the load, controlling water temperature heating, reaching the set temperature, reloading, and accumulating time automatically.

  2. Equipped with precise level control, offering an accuracy of up to 2mm, allowing for accurate management of the immersion solution’s concentration.

  3. Features automatic loading and unloading. Each sample holder contains five stations, independently controlled. After placing the sample and load, simply press the loading button to automatically load and initiate timing.

  4. A partition between the test rack and body minimizes water vapor evaporation, helping maintain the test liquid’s concentration.

  5. Designed with superior corrosion resistance, using 316L stainless steel or tetrafluoroethylene for components in contact with the test liquid, ensuring durability.

  6. Integrated with an automatic load calculation tool that calculates and assigns the load for each station with precision.

  7. Features a sloped drainage system at the bottom center, efficiently removing water from failed test stations and reducing its impact on other stations.
