Micro Separometer for Aviation Fuel TT-3948 adheres to the ASTM D3948 Standard Test Method for Determining Water Separation Characteristics of Aviation Turbine Fuels by Portable Separometer. 

To begin the test, a water/fuel sample emulsion is generated in a syringe using a high-speed mixer. Subsequently, the emulsion is expelled from the syringe at a controlled rate through a standard fiberglass coalesce, and the effluent is examined for uncoalesced water using light transmission measurement. The results are then reported on a scale from 0 to 100, rounded to the nearest whole number. Higher ratings indicate that the water is readily coalesced, suggesting that the fuel contains minimal surfactant materials. The test typically takes between 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
